Stephanie has seen herself as an artist for as long as she can remember. "When I was a child, play always revolved around the arts. I've always had an extreme curiosity about how things came to be, and how I would recreate them."
An autodidact with no formal collegiate instruction in the Arts, Stephanie constantly pursues her learning through various modes such as consuming literature about the arts, studying demos of various artists, and soliciting feedback from the artistic community,
Stephanie is inspired both by the rhythmic culture of the city, as well as the serenity of the country. She has lived in many places from rural, to urban, to suburban regions.
Her choices in subject matter stem from her travels throughout the Eastern United States. "Growing up, we'd often jump in the car for impromptu road trips. Not always knowing where I was headed, I had no choice but to observe and notice things around me- the landmarks, natural objects and environmental "scapes"- and try to gain directional perspective."
Stephanie is highly influenced by the work of Mary Cassatt, Thomas Cole, and Jan Vermeer. Her present influences include: Peter O’Neill, Valerio D'Ospina, Andre Kohn, David Cheifetz, Leonid Afremov, and Roger Disney.
Stephanie Bailly resides in Southeastern LA with her husband and their dog.
